14 reasons why you're better at business than me

1. There was only around $100 in my bank account when I decided to try online marketing.

I was stone cold broke.

Though I figured what did I have to lose?

I had no money anyway so $100 less wouldn't make much difference if I lost it.

And to begin with I did lose that $100 and then some (forcing me to get into debt, which I do not recommended) before making any money back.

Which takes me on nicely to point #2...

2. I have absolutely no business or marketing experience at all.

I've never studied marketing or business at school or college.

So clearly, I'm not at all qualified in the subject in any formal manner.

And I doubt even if you are qualified in either business or marketing it would make any major difference in the real world of business.

Here's why, reading about business in text books is no substitute for being deep in the trenches.

And here's another thing...

3. I'm a NONtrepreneur.

I've lost count of the marketers that say that as a kid they were selling baseball cards, shovelling snow, washing cars or running a lemonade stand to hustle up some money.

Not me, I was playing computer games and football and never sold a thing.

My only job as a teenager? It was a paper round and my mum forced me to do it.

Honestly, my knowledge of business and marketing was non existent in the beginning too as you'll find out in point 4...

4. Until several years into my online marketing journey I'd never read a single business, sales, marketing or self improvement book in my life.

I didn't even know who the famous giants like Zig Ziglar or Tony Robbins or Robert Kiyosaki were.

Let alone the names of any classic marketers or legendary copywriters.

And as point #5 shows they certainly didn't know me, look...

5. When I started NicheHacks I was an unknown blogger with no connections and no plan.

Yet, NicheHacks has now received over 2.2 million visits and generates a full time living for me.

Now NicheHacks is a household name in the online marketing world vouched for by the likes of Neil Patel and Brian Dean.

I've even been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine's website.

I certainly didn't rely on any internet marketing friends (I don't know any marketers) or the "old boys club" (I doubt they'd let me in) to help me achieve this.

I simply used old fashioned elbow grease to get to this point.

And I swear point #6 puts me at a huge disadvantage...

6. I suffer from insomnia and don't sleep well.

That doesn't mean I spend long hours working away.

It means I often can't focus for more than 10 seconds and I'm too tired to think.

Seriously, I'm brain dead 99% of my life.

And not sleeping is just the half of it as you'll see in point #7 below...

7. I'm not very smart: I failed all my exams at school, TWICE.

Yep seriously, I failed every exam at school bar History.

And I even studied the exact same subjects the following year only to get even worse grades second time round.

Even though the curriculum and exams were exactly the same.

Genius, right?

When I eventually made it to college passed by the skin of my teeth (1% away from a fail grade) in a pointless degree not worth the paper it was written on.

So, not only have I failed academically I'm not the typical business type either...

8. I'm totally the opposite of most successful business types.

Here's the deal, I don't like the spot light, I hate attention, you'll never see me on video, at a conference or on stage presenting or even doing a podcast.

As you know; I'm not Mr-Flashy-Suit-Smooth-Talker-Guy.

I'm an introverted guy who likes the internet because he doesn't have to talk to anyone.

Genuinely, I'm a private person (some would say "secretive") but that's just how I am in "real life" and "on the internet" and it hasn't stopped me building a successful business online, has it?

Yet as you'll see in point #9 you'd never have expected that to happen, look...

9. Before becoming an internet marketer I worked minimum wage jobs.

Jobs in offices as tea-boy / office junior and call centres and before that was a full time pot washer.

These jobs don't exactly set you up for a career in online business do they?

And neither does point #10...

10. I'm lazy.

Yep it's true, that's why I wanted to be an online marketer because I'm too lazy to get up every day and go to work.

And not just lazy either, see...

11. No one ever described me as “motivated and productive".

I operate on about 10% productivity at best most days.

I'm not kidding, I rarely feel motivated about anything.

And if that wasn't enough point #12 suggests I'm not the ideal candidate for business...

12. Business and money does not run in my family.

True story, no one has ever had their own business or even a high paying job.

My family are working class and whilst we've never been poor by any real definition (we've always had a roof over our head and food in our bellies) we certainly have never been wealthy.

Worryingly, everyone in my family has a scarcity mindset towards money and believes it's hard to find money.

Point #13 below really hammers how bad I was with money home...

13. I had over £30K in debt by my early 20s.

Loans, overdrafts and credit cards galore.

Not any more though, I've been debt free for years now solely thanks to online marketing.

Debt free and didn't watch TV, see what I mean in point #14...

14. I once didn't watch TV for 1 year. Can you think why?

I told everyone it was because it was a time waster.

The truth?

I couldn't figure out how to tune the TV in so just left it turned off for a year until I moved out of that apartment.

I'm a complete tech-tard, seriously!

My point with all of this?

My point is this....

If an underdog (like myself) with nothing in his favour can build a successful online business, claw back control and win back his freedom then...

....imagine what you can achieve?

Because clearly, I'm not the typical entrepreneurial type who has everything in his favour.

There's plenty of reasons as you've seen above why I had the deck stacked against me.

And here's the deal; I'm sure you're a lot smarter, motivated, outgoing, and entrepreneur-like than me.

So I'm confident that YOU can build a successful online business and live out your dreams too.

It just takes a real desire, a promise never to give up and a strong reason WHY you want to succeed.

So if you'd like to join my tribe of underdogs, misfits and underachievers who are working towards living out their dreams thanks to online marketing you can find us here:
